Hill Tribes

While driving up the highest peak in Thailand, we took a detour to visit the two hill tribes of the Doi Inthanon National Park.

First stop was to collect some of the bizarre and wonderful Thai fruits the Hmong people harvest as part of a horticulture project with the royal family (ever tried an eggfruit?!).
Lamut Khamen or Luk Taw (scientific name: Pouteria campechiana) passion fruit, physalis canistel fruit

Next stop was the Karen village Ban Sop Had just a little way down the hill from the Hmong market.
